Defending democracy means standing with Ukraine

On the International Day of Democracy, 15 September 2026, the Defending Democracy Global Initiative (DDGI) and the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine called on Europe’s institutions, lawmakers, journalists and citizens to turn solidarity with Ukraine into sustained action.

Under the theme “Every voice matters”, the statement called for support for Ukraine, independent journalism, action against disinformation, and accountable government.

The New European People’s Forum is one of the co-founders of DDGI.
