What this notice covers

This notice explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we look after it and what your rights are.

Personal data means any information that identifies you directly or indirectly, such as your name or email address.

What we collect

We collect personal data that you give us when you:

  • sign up to our newsletter;
  • register for an event;
  • contact us or submit an idea or comment through the website.

This may include your name, email address, country of residence and any other information you choose to share with us.

We may also collect limited technical information about your visit, such as pages viewed.

Why we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • make content available on our website;
  • respond to your messages and requests;
  • send you our newsletter and updates about our work, where you have agreed to receive them;
  • organise events and gather ideas and views from our supporters;
  • run our campaigns on citizens’ rights, democracy and Europe.

We will only send you newsletters and campaign emails if you have agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

Our legal basis

  • Consent: for our newsletter and campaign emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to respond to enquiries, organise events and run our website, where this does not override your rights.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal data.

This website is hosted by Citipo (CPGT SAS, Paris, France), which also provides our newsletter and supporter tools. Citipo processes data only on our instructions and must keep it secure.

If you ask to take part in the work of an organisation in our network, such as New Europeans UK or the New European People’s Forum, we may pass your details to that organisation for that purpose. They will then be responsible for your data under their own privacy policy.

Where your data is stored outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards required by UK law.

Memberships, Friends subscriptions and donations are handled through separate services (such as Steady or PayPal) and the organisations that run them, under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep your data

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Enquiries and event registrations: for up to two years after our last contact with you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • restrict or object to how we use your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at roger.casale@neweuropeans.net. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will respond within one month. For complex requests this may be extended, and we will tell you if so.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first at roger.casale@neweuropeans.net. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know the outcome without undue delay.

If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
