Lina Kushch
Lina Kushch is one of the directors of the New European People’s Forum (NEPF) and First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU). She is also a board member of the Ukrainian NGO Numo, Sisters.
Speaking at the forum “Free to Choose. Strong Together”, Lina argued that the voices of women affected by Russia’s war against Ukraine deserve to be heard internationally as clearly as those of Ukraine’s journalists.
Numo, Sisters stands with women who survived captivity, torture and sexual violence during the war.
It supports those who have come home, campaigns for the release of those still held, and presses governments and international bodies to provide interim reparations for victims. Its members have spoken at the United Nations, the OSCE, the International Criminal Court and the European Parliament, calling for urgent help and for crimes against Ukrainian women to be recognised.
For Lina, it all comes down to one thing: “We all have one request – a request for justice.” Her message goes to the heart of what NEPF stands for. Europe’s future must be shaped by the people most affected by its crises, not just spoken about on their behalf.
