Achievements

What has changed because of our work?

.Since 2013 our campaigns have protected citizens’ rights, shaped debate in parliaments and built new platforms for democracy across Europe. 

Guarantees for EU citizens’ rights: We helped secure unilateral, comprehensive guarantees of EU citizens’ rights in the UK after Brexit.

#VoteDenied: In 2019 we exposed the scale of the scandal in which over 1 million EU citizens in the UK were denied their vote in the European Parliament elections. 

EUSS Alliance and APPG on Citizens’ Rights: We helped EU citizens secure their status under the EU Settlement Scheme, and championed their rights in the House of Commons through the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Citizens’ Rights.

Votes for life: We campaigned for the abolition of the 15-year rule, so that British citizens abroad no longer lose their right to vote. It was scrapped in 2024. 

A platform for citizens’ democracy: After years of campaigning, we created the New European People’s Forum in 2023 by merging with Europe’s People’s Forum. 

Defending democracy and standing with Ukraine: We co-founded the Defending Democracy Global Initiative in 2024, and set up the Westminster Alliance for Ukraine in 2025.
