Our story

New Europeans began in 2013 with a simple idea: everyone who makes Europe their home should have a voice in its future. 

Today we represent  a growing network of organisations, and activists from Ukraine to the UK and from the Baltics to the Balkans, working for a common European home: a Europe that is safe haven for freedom and democracy, where all who have the right to be here also have the right to belong

2013: Launched at the House of Commons
New Europeans was launched on 18 June 2013, with cross-party support, to bring together people who share a European identity, whatever their nationality. 

2016: Safeguarding citizens’ rights campaign
After the EU referendum, we campaigned to stop EU citizens in the UK, and Britons in Europe, being used as bargaining chips in the Brexit negotiations. 

2017: Opened at Brussels Press Club Europe
New Europeans International took our work beyond the UK. T 

2019: Schwarzkopf Award for EU Green Card
Young Europeans voted our EU Green Card campaign the winner of the Schwarzkopf Europe Award, 

  2021: Set up charitable arm in London

 2023: Joined forces with Europe’s People’s Forum

2024: Defending Democracy Global Initiative 
With CIVIL – Center for Freedom and Media Dialogue e.V., we launched  DDGI n Skopje. 

2025: Westminster Alliance for Ukraine
Launched at the House of Commons, bringing together parliamentarians and civil society in support of Ukraine. .
