I am writing to show my support for the initiative being taken by Peter Kyle MP and Phil Wilson MP to allow for a confirmatory referendum by means of a sunset clause in the legislation needed to pass the Withdrawal Agreement.
The uncertainty around Brexit and the anxiety this is causing has gone on for far too long.
That is why I added my name along with hundreds of grassroots supporters to the open letter to Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn and the European Union that was published on the 4 February by New Europeans.
Now that this proposal has the support of a cross-party campaign in parliament, I ask you to do everything you can to make sure the necessary legislation is passed as a matter of urgency.
As Ian Dunt said of our proposal on 5 February – “this is a sensible attempt at a compromise which turns the withdrawal Agreement into the default and offers a democratic say over the final deal as it is in reality.”
I urge you to support it.
