Join our call for a European Health Union

What can we learn from citizens about healthcare that can help us prepare better for the next global pandemic?

Please show your support for a European Health Union by signing and sharing.

How a European Health Union can work and the lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis are questions to be addressed at an international conference.

The conference will call for the setting up of a European Health Union.

We will put citizens at the heart of  the discussion about the future of healthcare in Europe, recognising that a step-change is needed in how we meet Europe’s health care needs.

We will draw on the energy, expertise and imagination of all participants to map out a transformative vision of change for health care in Europe.

The conference will take place over three days, from 5 to 7 November,  including an opening plenary and press conference, expert panels and a citizen’s assembly.

New ideas, strategic insights and policy recommendations will be presented to the G20 summit from 20-21 November and to EU leaders.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of citizens in delivering better health outcomes for themselves and for Europe as a whole.

Transformative change means recognising that healthcare reform cannot take place in isolation from other areas of policy-making, notably education, the economy, citizenship, border control and, in the context of the EU, subsidiarity.

Recognising and exploring these interconnections will be a leitmotif of the conference, animated by the call made by Ambassador Brauzzi for an international conference on lessons learned on Europe Day, 9 May 2020 to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration.
