GlobalNet21 and New Europeans will hold a meeting on the plight of the refugees settling in Europe and the human rights issues around the use of Detention Centres.
The world has developed into a more unsettled place than it was at the end of the last century. War and conflicts, resource shortages and extreme weather have resulted in movements of population in different parts of the globe.
In Europe this is now a major issue facing many countries with hundreds of thousands of people on the move. It is raising many issues about accommodation, integration and human rights.
This meeting will discuss the issue of migration and the plight of refugees and how we approach what will be a growing problem in a compassionate and humane way.
David Burrowes is a Member of Parliament who has been deeply concerned with the human rights of people who are refugees both in terms of their settlement and also the sometimes inhuman conditions of their detention. David has long campaigned for the rights of refugees and for their fair treatment.
