Model European Union Scotland is a simulation of the EU’s decision-making process.
For one week, over 100 carefully selected participants from across Europe take on the roles of Members of the European Parliament and Ministers of the Council and work to amend real proposals made by the European Commission.
A strong element of the Model EU experience is the practice of democracy and the links fostered with public institutions has opened the doors of corridors of power to young people and future leaders inspir-ing educational and political development.
During the conference, participants will not only have the opportunity to improve their debating and decision-making skills, but will also gain experience in the political world and network with other like-minded Europeans. This allows participants to take on different positions which permits individuals to discover the various roles they can have in politics and gain further insight into the meaning of European cooperation.
The project is thus completely original in the world of simulations and other MEU’s have been extremely popular among young Europeans from diverse study areas and geographical backgrounds. This is the first MEU simulation to be held in Scotland and is therefore the first opportunity of this kind to be offered here.
