Disenfranchised: The Irish in Britain - London, UK

Date:
Wednesday, July 19, 2017 - 19:30

The Irish Government has announced its intention to hold a referendum on whether Irish people living outside of the State should be allowed to vote in presidential elections.

We're also expecting a referendum on the 8th Amendment to the Constitution next year - an issue of huge significance to Irish people the world over.

And Britain's decision to leave the EU will make Irish people living in the UK unrepresented EU citizens.

Join us on Wednesday 19th July for a discussion about the disenfranchised status of the Irish in Britain, and the work our community needs to do to make our voices heard on the issues we care about.

We'll be joined by:

  • Sean Kennedy, CEO of the London Irish Centre
  • Brian Hayes, Fine Gael MEP for Dublin
  • Breda Corish, Convenor for the London Irish Abortion Rights Campaign
  • Mary Hickman, Chair of Votes for Irish Citizens Abroad
