Speakers included actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, comedian Jeremy Hardy, and the Free Nelson Mandela songwriter Jerry Dammers.
Addressing the rally at Trafalgar Square for New Europeans, Roger Casale, said:
"New Europeans believe in a citizens' Europe, a Europe of people, of individual men and women united through their diversity. The more diverse we are the more united we need to be. All 28 nations stand for the same democratic values. European citizens should be able to move freely in Europe without fear of discrimination and with the right to work, study and to a family life secure for all."
