Olivier Vedrine joins Association Nationale Mémoires du Mont-Valérien and the Rassemblement des Mémoires Européennes

New Europeans' (Europe) board member Olivier Védrine was invited to join the Association Nationale Mémoires du Mont-Valérien and the Rassemblement des Mémoires Européennes as advisor for European questions to the president of this French national association.

During the Second World War, the fort of Mont-Valérien was the place of more than a thousand executions of hostages and resistance fighters.

On June 18, 1960, General de Gaulle inaugurated the Memorial of Fighting France below the fortress, where sixteen bodies of combatants from France and the colonies rest, symbolizing the different forms of fighting for the Liberation.

Since then, each year, the President of the French Republic participates in a national tribute.
