At a meeting chaired by Sir Stuart Etherington, many New Europeans had the opportunity to put questions to a panel of speakers from all the major parties except UKIP who were invited bu tdid not attend.
Questions were raised about the situation of young people in Europe, negative attitudes in the UK towards Europe and European expat citizens from Poland. Romania and Bulgaria, the need for a long term strategic approach to the future of Europe and for more support for civil society.
Afer the meeting, all the candidates took time to stay behind and talk to the civil society organisations from NCVO and the European expat citizens who were in attendance with New Europeans and we wish them all well in the elections.
All pledged to continue to reach out to civil society and European expat citizens if elected and to develop relationships with all sections of the communities they seek to represent.
The UKIP candidate was invited but declined the invitation.
