Newsletter with our reaction to defeat of Brexit deal and implications for EU27 citizens and Britions in Europe.
From the day after the referendum, we have fought tirelessly to defend the rights of EU27 citizens and Britons in Europe. And we know that the best way to defend our rights as citizens is for Britain to remain a member of the EU.
As the Government's Brexit Bill is defeated by 432 votes to 202 in the House of Commons, we can feel a heartfelt sense of pride and claim a fair degree of ownership for this outcome and we do.
If you are based in the UK (or registered to vote there) and your pro-remain MP voted against the Brexit deal, please write to thank your MP for what they have done.
We know that this is not the end of the matter. Grave risks lie ahead with the constant threat of Britain leaving without a deal.
However, we also know that the road to stopping Brexit had to pass through this moment.
When the Brexit decision is reversed, as it surely will be, the defeat of the Withdrawal Agreement will turn out to have been a decisive turning point.
