New Europeans is delighted to provide the secretariat services for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Freedom of Movement.

The APPG on Freedom of MovemAdvocaent is a cross-party group of Members from both Commons and Lords, and is chaired by Tom Brake MP. It provides a forum for discussing the value of free movement of people to British society and the UK economy, conducts research into the impact of free movement on individuals and communities. Most importantly, the group seeks to analyse the position of EU citizens in Britain and Brits living in other EU member states, and ensure that their rights are protected. Please visit the official Parliamentary website for more information.

Why do we need the APPG on Freedom of Movement?

We passionately believe that free movement of people -- one of the founding principles of the EU -- has a number of significant benefits for both Britain and the rest of the European Union. Therefore, we seek to encourage an open and fruitful discussion on the value and future of freedom of movement in Britain.

Furthermore, we recognise that following the referendum on 23 June 2016 a shockwave has been going through the communities of non-British EU citizens residing in the UK and Brits abroad. Thus, we aim to raise important questions on what will happen to the rights of the EU citizens currently living in the UK and Brits in other EU member states.

How to get involved?

We very much welcome attendees from various organisations, EU member states' embassies and academia. Meetings usually take the form of presentations by speakers and then a Q&A with the floor. We hope that these meetings become an interactive forum in which attendees discuss the issues alongside the guest speaker and other panellists. Meetings are open to MPs and Lords, and others by invitation only.
