Having lived and worked in Berlin, London and Paris, Katharina is passionate about the European project and is currently pursuing a degree in European Politics at UCL and Sciences Po Paris.
Her main academic interests include citizen participation in European politics and far-right parties in Europe. She has done academic research on the effect of the participatory instruments in the EU at the example of the European Citizens’ Initiative and professional research in the third sector on citizen consultations. Her interest in politics has also been confirmed by professional experience in the German Bundestag and European NGOs.
To counter popular disenchantment with European politics, she strongly believes in promoting young people’s engagement in decision-making processes. She is therefore working on the content of the Your Vision for Europe project by the European Students’ Forum, which aims at connecting young people and policy-makers. She also has experience campaigning during the European elections 2014 and representing young people in high-level negotiations. Katharina successfully pushed for young people’s ideas to be included in the 2015 G20’s Leaders Final Communiqué during her mandate as the Head Delegate of the EU youth delegation.
